As a rapidly growing university and college location, Magdeburg has over 18,500 students with one of the highest proportions of foreign students at any German university.
The number of students has more than doubled since 1990. According to the annual “Magdeburg in numbers” statistics published by the state capital, over 18,500 students attend the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Thanks to their modern facilities and the good staff-student ratio, both universities are ideal places for higher education in Germany. The significant proportion of foreign students (almost 16%) shows that this is not only a common fact in Germany, but also worldwide.

Magdeburg research scientists leading the way in neuroscience
You don't need to know what a 7 Tesla ultra-high field magnetic resonance tomograph is, you just need to know that the only magnetic resonance tomograph with this degree of field strength in Europe is currently being built in Magdeburg. The Leibniz Institute of Neurobiology, together with the Zenit Neuroscience Innovation and Technology Centre and the university's Faculty of Medicine, is one of Germany's leading neuroscience facilities.
